Chris Stapleton’s ‘Tennessee Whiskey’ has actually been covered by a wide variety of individuals including some major celeb vocalists like Soulful Singer Keke Wyatt. In 2015 at The CMA, ‘Tennessee Whiskey’ Stapleton performed his hit single with Pop Artist Justin Timberlake. Kourtney White AKA Song Bird, who is in her 30s and originally from McKinney, Texas, also did her rendition along with her cousin Kenyetta Gray which gained over 30 million views.

Since ‘Tennesse Whiskey” White has covered several chart-topping hits like George Michaels, ‘I can’t make you love me’, Sam Cooke ‘Change gone come’, & ‘Easy’ by Adele. However, White is no stranger to Youtube, in 2008, she began uploading herself performing covers like Beyonce, ‘Speechless’ and ‘Same Old Sad Song’ by Gospel Artist Smokie Norful. White also has performed live at the K104 FM Juneteenth celebration in Dallas TX. Additionally, White performed ‘Truth’ by India Arie live at her mother’s wedding reception. White says about her mother, “when the day is done, my mama’s still my biggest fan”.

Years later, viewers are still commenting on her early videos and even make requests to cover songs like Sinead Harnett “If you let me”, and Jazmine Sullivan’s “Need U Bad”. White has many praising her beautiful spiritual voice and requesting to see her on TV appearing on BET or MTV. No reason White shouldn’t be signed to a million-dollar record deal says fans.

White says she “loves to sing. It comes naturally”. She has been singing since the age of 7. She writes her own material including her song titled, “I Wanna Go Back” which is about family and reminiscing on the good old days with loved ones. White comes from a spiritual and religious background. Among her vocal talents is her cousin Kenyetta, who she frequently does covers with. Together, they’re anything but amateur singers and have a powerful, yet controlled vocal range.

Brain Surgery

Most recently on her social media page, White shares how she had to endure brain surgery last year in December. The reason she had brain surgery has not yet been revealed. She wrote on her Instagram page:

“I know it’s been a while…. 12/13/22 I had to have brain surgery… Probably one of the scariest times of my life! But God! As I fight to gain my strength back, just know I’m coming back and giving my all, to all of you, with this voice! Thank God for my gift! This is just my testimony! To my family, and friends who have had my back, thank you!!!”.
