Following skin cancer, breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in The US. Some celebrities including ABC’s Good Morning America host, Robin Roberts, and Wanda Sykes were both diagnosed with breast cancer. In 2007, Robin, 59, shared with her audience her cancer disease and had a partial mastectomy. Comedian, Wanda Sykes, 56, got diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy in 2011.

Like Robin & Wanda, 32-year-old Sydd Riley got diagnosed in 2019 with breast cancer. On her IG selfie post, showing off her beautiful long length inches of locs in two strand twist style, she writes: “I was diagnosed with breast cancer on December 3rd. Since then nothing has been the same, ask me how I feel & I don’t know how I feel. I’ve felt every emotion. I’m not even worried about life, I’m not even worried about death. “I know I’ll survive because God got me”.

Riley had found a lump on the top area of her right breast. Within a few months after being diagnosed, cancer affects her loc journey of 13 years, when one of her loc strands fell off. Soon after, patches of her hair and eyebrows starting to fall off. While some may not have had the strength to carry on, Sydd continued treatments and getting her education on eventually graduating with a degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant.

She likes to write poetry and shares some of her writings with others who may find her and everything that comes along with her more encouraging than she’ll ever know. On her personal IG page, she documents her journey, which is received with an abundance of love and support.

After 16 chemo treatments and a double mastectomy, the major chapter in Sydd’s life has passed. She is now cancer-free! Please support Sydd and donate to her Go Fund Me on her journey to continue being cancer-free.
